Celebrations @Home benefiting Variety, the Children’s Charity

The Michigan Design Center recently hosted the “Celebrations@ Home” event to benefit Variety, the Children’s Charity.  A special thanks goes to Virginia Tile for the invitation to design a vignette for their showroom.

Celebrations vignette at Virgina Tile

The theme was “A Moment of Time”, which celebrated those moments to actually take a coffee break, sit down for lunch, and just smell the flowers.  The inspiration came from the grouping of George Nelson mid-century modern “Butterfly” clocks. Working with the existing tile and nonworking fountain, allowed warm elements of wood, linen fabrics, wasabi green, and chili pepper red to brighten the space. Also, additional timepieces and a live gold-fish bowl added whimsy to the warm and relaxing outdoor setting, which could easily be found in a garden, patio, and even a city roof top terrace.

An additional special thanks to Baker Furniture, RJ Thomas, Ghiordes Knot, Beacon Hill/Robert Allen, Cercan Tile, Northern Impressions, Prestige Design and Build, and Chazzano Coffee for the use of furnishings, products, and installation of the vignette.  Photograph by Beth Singer Photographer
